OFF-GRID ENERGY STORAGE POWER

An Off Grid Energy Storage powered container is suitable for facilities that requires a temporary and portability power supply solution, or locations with no access to grid power such as mobile site office, construction site, emergency command or medical centre, mobile cafe, charging station, events and others.

The Off Grid Energy Storage container module could be mounted with Solar and, or connect to a Generator set for multi-purpose usage.

For instance, a 60kWh Hybrid Genset + Solar + Battery is sufficed to power three to four 20-foot air-conditioned containerized site office for 8 to 10 hours a day.

What is a Battery Energy Storage System?

A battery energy storage system (BESS) is a solution that stores electricity for later use. It allows energy from sources such as solar, wind, or the power grid to be saved and used when needed. This system helps manage energy more effectively and is becoming popular in homes, commercial buildings and industrial sites. A BESS often uses lithium-ion batteries along with a control system to manage charging and discharging. These systems are used to reduce reliance on the grid, improve energy security and support the use of clean energy. They also help reduce power bills by storing energy when prices are low and using it when prices are high.

Benefits of Battery Energy Storage Systems

Greater Energy Control

A battery energy storage system gives users control over how and when they use electricity. It allows users to store energy when it’s cheap or freely available from solar system and use it during peak times or power cuts.

Lower Electricity Bills

Homes and businesses can lower their energy bills by storing power when rates are low and using it during high-cost periods. This also helps avoid peak demand charges, especially for commercial users.

Cleaner Energy Use

When used with solar or wind systems, BESS stores extra energy and makes it available when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing. This supports cleaner and more reliable power.

Grid Support

Battery systems help keep the power grid stable. They support frequency regulation, voltage control and help balance supply and demand. This makes power delivery more reliable.

Backup During Outages

A BESS acts as a backup power source during blackouts. This is useful for homes, businesses, medical centres and critical infrastructure where continuous power is needed.

Carbon Reduction

Using stored renewable power instead of fossil fuels reduces emissions. A BESS helps users move towards a low-carbon lifestyle and supports national climate goals.

Why Invest in Residential Energy Storage?

A solar battery for home helps homeowners store power for when it’s needed most. Whether for backup during a blackout or to use solar power at night, home battery storage gives more control over energy usage. When paired with rooftop solar system, it reduces dependence on the grid at night and lowers monthly electricity bills. As energy prices rise, storing your own energy becomes a smart and long-term solution.

Benefits at Home:

  • Provides backup power during outages
  • Stores solar energy for night-time use
  • Helps reduce household electricity bills
  • Improves self-sufficiency and energy control
  • Supports eco-friendly living

Homeowners who install solar energy storage also add value to their property, making it a smart investment beyond just energy savings.

Why Invest in Commercial Battery Storage?

Commercial Battery Storage helps businesses manage high electricity costs and protect against power disruptions. During peak hours, companies often face high charges. With battery storage, they can store power in advance and use it when rates are high. This also helps avoid downtime during blackouts, which can affect business operations.

Battery systems also improve power quality and support the use of on-site solar power. When combined with a solar energy system, businesses can rely more on clean energy and less on the grid. This supports green goals and builds a positive brand image.

Commercial Benefits:

  • Reduce peak demand and energy bills
  • Ensure a stable power supply during outages
  • Use stored power from solar systems
  • Improve grid stability and power quality
  • Achieve sustainability targets

Companies in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, high powered consumption companies can gain both financial and environmental benefits from Commercial Battery Storage integrated with solar system.

How Battery Energy Storage Systems Can Be Used

Battery storage systems serve many purposes across different sectors:

Load Levelling

This means storing energy during periods of low demand and using it during peak demand. It reduces pressure on the grid and avoids the need for costly upgrades.

Peak Shaving

A system discharges during peak usage to lower demand and reduce charges. This is often used in commercial and industrial buildings.

Backup Power

A BESS provides emergency power during outages. This is vital for places like hospitals, schools and data centres.

Frequency Control

BESS helps keep the grid’s frequency within safe levels. It charges or discharges quickly to match shifts in supply or demand.

Renewable Integration

A Solar Energy Storage System stores energy from solar system and releases it when the sun is down. It supports a smoother and more consistent power supply.

Mobile or Off-Grid Use

In remote areas, mobile sites, or events, battery storage can supply power where grid access is limited. These units are often mounted in containers or trailers and combined with solar or generators.

What’s Inside a BESS?

A modern battery energy storage system includes several components working together:

  • Battery modules – Often lithium-ion, storing electrical energy
  • Battery Management System (BMS) – Manages the battery’s health and performance
  • Inverter or Power Conversion System (PCS) – Converts DC to AC for use
  • Thermal management – Keeps batteries at safe temperatures
  • Monitoring software – Tracks system status, charge levels and efficiency
  • Safety features – Includes fire protection, surge protection and isolation switches
  • Enclosure – Often containerised for industrial setups, or wall-mounted for homes

All components work together to ensure safe, stable and efficient operation, whether for a solar battery for home or large commercial use.

Key Considerations for Installation in Singapore

A modern battery energy storage system includes several components working together:

Available Space

Choose a spot with airflow and access. Small homes or buildings may need compact units.

Local Rules

Installers must follow SCDF fire rules and EMA electrical codes. Using certified gear ensures safety and approval.

Climate and Environment

Design should handle heat, rain and humidity.

System Size

Match system size to energy needs. Oversized units waste money; small ones limit savings.

Connection Setup

Ensure a smooth link with the power system or solar PV

Access for Maintenance

Allow space for future maintenance. Make sure parts are reachable and clear from clutter.

All components work together to ensure safe, stable and efficient operation, whether for a solar battery for home or large commercial use.
