Hoyer Motors

Hoyer IE1 marine motors are widely used for all types of marine applications and are manufactured according to international standards under IEC. 

The motors are asynchronous low voltage three-phase TEFC squirrel-cage motors. Type MS (aluminum) size 56-132 and Y2E2 (cast iron) size 160-400. Cast iron motors Y2E2 can be delivered on request from size 80-450. All motors above size 132 have 3xPTC in windings. All cast iron and aluminium motors are provided with SKF or similar premium quality bearings. All motors from size 160-400 have heating elements for stand still protection against condensation and tropical windings.

The IE1 marine range is as standard IP55 and painted RAL 5010.

690V D is available on reqest together with other non-standard voltages.

Hoyer IE2 marine motors are used for a wide range of maritime applications. With a proven track record and performance the design is approved and certified by all major class societies and are manufactured according to international standards under IEC.

The motors are asynchronous low voltage three-phase TEFC squirrel-cage motors. Type HMA2 (aluminum) size 56-132 and HMC2 (cast iron) size 160-400. Cast iron motors can be delivered on request from size 80-560. All motors have 3xPTC in windings.
All cast iron and aluminium motors are provided with SKF or similar premium quality bearings. Motors in size 56-180 have closed bearings greased for life. All motors from size 160-400 have heating elements for stand still protection against condensation. As standard all Hoyer IE2 marine motors have fixed bearing in drive end.

All IE2 marine motors are as standard IP55 and painted RAL 9005 low gloss.

690V D is also a part of the Hoyer IE2 marine motor range.

Hoyer IE3 motor is a multi-purpose electric motor and is the preferred choice for industrial applications and are manufactured according to the efficiency class system specified under IEC 60034-30. They have a proven high quality, reliability and performance.
The motors are asynchronous low voltage three-phase TEFC squirrel-cage motors. Type HMA3 (aluminum) size 80-132 and HMC3 (cast iron) size 160-400. All cast iron and aluminium motors are provided with SKF or similar premium quality bearings and 3xPTC in windings. Motors in size 80-180 have closed bearings greased for life. As standard all Hoyer IE3 motors have fixed bearing in drive end.

All IE3 motors are provided with blind caps in all supply connections and are as standard IP55, prepared for drain holes and painted RAL 9005 low gloss.

400V Y – Hoyer IE3 Motors ≤ 3 kW

Hoyer IE4 motors are defined by premium energy efficiency. It offers great opportunities for energy savings across markets and applications. The motors are manufactured according to international standards under IEC 60034-30 and are fulfilling the requirement of the EC Directive 2009/640/EC, (EU) 2019/1781/EC and 2014/4/EU Ecodesign for energy related products. They have a proven high quality, reliability and performance.

The motors are asynchronous low voltage three-phase TEFC squirrel-cage motors. Type HMA4 (aluminum) size 80-180 and HMC4 (cast iron) size 160-355. All aluminium and cast iron  motors are provided with premium quality bearings and 3xPTC in windings. Motors in size 80-200 have closed bearings greased for life. As standard all Hoyer IE4 motors have fixed bearing in drive end.

All IE4 motors are provided with plastic blind caps in all supply connections and are as standard IP55, prepared for drain holes and painted C3L according to ISO 12944-5:2018 in color RAL 9005 low gloss.

Energy efficiency is a main focus area related to CO2 emissions and industrial pollution. Across borders legislation and Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) are put into force to improve the efficiency of electric motors. The European MEPS are defined in the Ecodesign directive and Hoyer IE4 fulfils these future regulations.

From July 1 2023 all electric motors between 75-200 kW that are commissioned for land-based industrial applications within EU/EEA must be IE4 or higher. Hoyer Motors are ready to support in the pursuit of energy efficiency.

HMCX explosion proof marine motors are characterised by high material quality and a proven robust design. They are designed according to international standards in conformity with below.

  • GB – 3836.1, 3836.2, 3836.3
  • IEC – 60079-0, 60079-1 and 60079-7
  • EN – 60079-0, 60079-1 and 60079-7/A1

The motors are low voltage three-phase TEFC motors, and designed in protection enclosure „db“. They can be used in zone 1 explosive atmospheres, group of use IIB/IIC covering all industries except mining. In these areas an explosive atmosphere can occur during normal operation (zone 1). Dangerous zones in the marine and oil & gas industries occurs on many vessel and platform types including gas carriers, semi-subs, tankers, FPSO’s, FSO’s, FLNG’s, FSRU’s etc. 

HMCX motors are with cast iron housing, premium quality bearings and provided with ATEX and IECEx certified blind plugs. Motors frame size 80-250 are with closed bearings greased for life while frame size 280-400 comes with re-greasable open bearings. All motor sizes have tropical insulation and are equipped with winding heater and 3xPTC as. As standard motors have C3L coating according to ISO 12944-5:2018 in color RAL 9005 low gloss.

The range is designed to offer flexible product solutions according to customer and application demands. A variety of options are available including Exe protection, larger size motors, special bearings, higher IP class and various measuring systems.
